Samsung SDS, LG, AWS & SK Shieldus Joint Venture For Cloud Security
In keeping with the Korean media, recently, development in cloud-based cyber computing has occurred where AWS has announced that Samsung SDS, LG CNS, and SK Shields have received their competence partner status recognition AWS where all these companies performed exceedingly well.
AWS CP: This status is given when an AWS Competency Partner has proven customer success in specialized areas across the industry, use cases, and workload. These AWS Partners are vetted and validated against a high bar to achieve the AWS Competency designation.
On June 13, AWS released a press statement, “In our responsible sharing model, AWS can ensure security in terms of network and infrastructure and an enterprise client can be responsible for safe application establishment in the cloud environment of AWS,” also adding, “This can be defined as the client’s application-level security configuration management based on guidelines, encryption tools, and model cases provided by AWS.”
The above statement means that AWS is willing to accept the joint responsibility as partners to further enhance the cloud-based security services in S.KOrea, and SDS, LG, and Sk Shields are working alongside AWS.
AWS has got Korea Information Security Management System (K-ISMS) certification, the first by any company outside S.Korea. Any other S.Korean company can acquire this authentication by applying to AWS instead of themselves. Hence reducing the cost.
However, AWS still can’t work in the public sector because of the lacking Cloud Security Assurance Program (CSAP) hard to meet conditions such as the location of the data center and segregation of public and private cloud servers.
AWS and Microsoft currently dominate the cyber security and cloud-based services market in S.Korea, and Google is also trying to cover the gap in the long years.
It will be interesting to see how the current situation unfolds from here.

SK Shields provides security solutions for privacy protection and web security, along with customized security solutions for the customer’s security environment. Sk Shields changed its name from former ADT Caps on October 21.
