Recently Samsung rolled out a June 2022 Android security update to its flagship Galaxy S22 Series in Europe & Asia, which is expected to be released in the United States as well.

Now the S.Korean company is serving the latest security firmware to the Galaxy S21 trio. This is the first update in July and has a download size of 265.94 MB, which comes with a new firmware build no. G99*BXXS5CVFB. It is currently available in Germany.

Here you can see all three models:

  • SM-G998B – S21 Ultra – G998BXXS5CVFB.
  • SM-G996B – S21+ – G996BXXS5CVFB.
  • SM-G991B S21 – G991BXXS5CVFB.

This OTA seems to be a regular security patch; not much to add here. According to the Changelog and user-posted screenshot on Reddit:

This month’s update fixes the security and privacy-related issues and comes with a Google security patch, which might also include minor UI tweaking & native apps update

It is expected that Samsung and Google’s report, July 2022, comes with a security patch fix for dozens of vulnerabilities related to user privacy and data security and also improves overall system stability.

The update is for security and privacy issues fixes but is not limited to it, it can also include general bug fixes and device stability improvements.

We have seen continuous updates for Galaxy S21, S21 Ultra, and S21+ from Samsung; as one would expect from Samsung to treat their flagship series & this was lightning fast.

The Galaxy S21 Series was released in 2021 and is expected to get updated in terms of both the latest OS and UI as per Samsung’s 4-Year Software Distribution Policy.

Users can also check for the latest software update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install or turning auto-updates or notifications on in the settings of the device.
