Updates are currently being distributed for 6 additional Android smartphone models, including the new security patches, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE (Exynos), the Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Galaxy A33 5G, Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A52. Let’s start with ‘traditional’ smartphones, with Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy A52, Galaxy A52 5G, and Galaxy A33 5G receiving a new update with September 2022 security patches. As we have seen, these go to fix more than 20 vulnerabilities regarding MTP drivers, the privileges of SystemUI, Photo Editor, and a bug that could have allowed an attacker to initiate emergency calls remotely and beyond. Among the different vulnerabilities cited by the manufacturer, none are marked as critical.
Galaxy S21 FE updates in the Exynos variant with the firmware G990EXXU3CVH7 in Panama or Thailand. Galaxy A52 5G is receiving the A526BXXS1CVH7 version in Brazil, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic, Galaxy A52 the A525FXXS4BVI2 starting from Russia and Galaxy A33 5G the A336EDXU4AVH9 starting from Indonesia and Malaysia. In addition to the aforementioned September patches, the firmware brings stability improvements and the solution to some unspecified bugs.
The Galaxy Z Flip bears firmware version F700FXXUAHVH9, which was released in Italy. The Galaxy Z Flip 5G is getting updated with firmware version F707BXXU7HVH9 across Europe.
How To Update
The update for Samsung Galaxy devices are already on distribution via OTA starting with non-branded models (it could take a few more hours or days to wait for branded ones). All you need to do is install the update is go to the system settings through the ‘Settings > Software Updates > Download and Install’ path and follow the directions. If it fails, you can try again after a few hours.
