The Chinese tech manufacturer Huawei once was a real market rival to Samsung, but a few years ago, the US government banned the smartphones manufactured by this Chinese multinational (Huawei). Afterward, the US government imposed a trade ban also on the company. For those who need to be made aware, with a trade ban imposed, the company should not be able to use the key technologies developed by residential manufacturers. In that manner, Huawei had to license its key mobile and wireless technology to other brands, including Samsung, to stay persistent.

Let you know Huawei has announced that they have licensed its key 5G technologies to the South Korean manufacturer Samsung. However, the company hasn’t specified about Samsung, whether the patents will be related to 5G modems inside the Galaxy smartphones or Samsung Network’s telecom infrastructure. Even when Nikkei went to Samsung to know their response to this deal, they have not reacted to it. As the reports claimed, the revenue Huawei earned from this patent licensing was 1.2 billion USD to 1.3 billion USD between the years 2019 to 2021.

Among these 20 brands, Samsung is the largest partner brand of Huawei in terms of smartphone sales and revenue. Besides, according to Nikkei Asia, Huawei has stated that they are committed to long-term investment for research and development and improved Intellectual Property (IP). Let us tell you in 2021, Huawei was the top-ranked company that obtained patents at the National Intellectual Property Administration of China and the European Patent Office.
