On Saturday, the chiefs of the South Korean company Samsung Group and the world-popular German car-manufacturer BMW met, as Samsung stated on Sunday. Both of the company chiefs have discussed the ideas and ways to enhance and straighten their battery business partnership. The meeting was held at the BMW Driving Center in Incheon, located just west of Seoul. Now let’s take a brief look at the conclusion of this meeting.

According to Samsung Electronics, the leader of Samsung Group, Lee Jae-Yong, and BMW Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Oliver Zipse talked about an extended partnership for their car battery business. BMW also organized a ceremony for Samsung Group executives to deliver 10 all-electric i7 sedans featured with Samsung SDI’s Gen5 prismatic batteries. These batteries are basically used in electric car models such as the i7 sedan of BMW.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BMW Group also stated in that manner that in the field of electrification, Samsung is one of its important partners, and it really makes sense for Samsung executives to stick with the BMW i7. For information, since 2013, Samsung SDI has been supplying car batteries for the i3 plug-in hybrid, i8 plug-in hybrid roadster, iX all-electric SUV, and i4 pure electric Gran Coupe models of BMW. Hence, they have both been in partnership since the old days; they want to enhance their bond in this field even more.
