US carrier-locked Galaxy S21 updated to December 2022 security patch

Samsung is working round the clock and providing the latest firmware updates for its Galaxy devices, Nowadays the company is providing two kinds of firmware updates including Android 13 and security updates for its eligible devices. Now the December 2022 security update is rolling out for Galaxy S21 smartphones in the US.

Notably, the carrier-locked variant of the Galaxy S21 device has now received December 2022 security update, Users who own this device can identify the latest update by checking the firmware version number G991USQS5DVL3, G996USQS5DVL3 and G998USQS5DVL3 for Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+and Galaxy S21 Ultra respectively. The update is currently available on the Comcast network. However, the update will expand to other carriers in a few days.

The December 2022 security update includes 93 patches which fix privacy and security-related issues and exposers, from these 80 patches are included by google which resolves the issues regarding Android OS and another 13 patches are included by Samsung to fix the loopholes of security in the Galaxy devices.

It is important to note that the update is only available for carrier-locked devices and may not be available for unlocked or international versions of the Galaxy S21 series. It is also worth noting that the update is being rolled out in stages, so it may take some time before it becomes available to all users.
