Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be the lightest and thinnest device in its segment

According to Etnews, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will weigh around 250g, which is 13 g lighter than its predecessor Galaxy Z Fold 4 (263 grams). The thickness of the device after folding will be 13.4mm which is 0.8 mm thinner than the previous generation device.

The report also mentions that Samsung is constantly performing quality tests after setting the target values for the weight and thickness of the next product. The sample which has been successfully tested was 254g; however, Samsung now continues developing the product to meet the target values.

Moreover, Samsung has also changed the hinge of the device, which is responsible for folding the screen easily; now, the company has introduced a newly shaped hinge named as water drop hinge that can fold the device more accurately without leaving any space between the halves of the screen. This may also be one of the main reasons for the reduced thicknesses of the device. The company has also decided not to include S Pen with this new foldable smartphone.
