Unlocked Galaxy Note 20 gets April 2023 security patch in the US

Samsung has now rolled out the new security patch for the unlocked units of Galaxy Note 20 series devices, while the carrier-locked variant hasn’t received the update till now as the update is gradually expanding, so it is expected to be available on all the units of devices in the next few days.

The unlocked units of Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra are getting the April 2023 security update with firmware version numbers N981U1UES4HWC9 and N986U1UES4HWC9, respectively. It is the second post update after One UI 5.1.

The April 2023 security update is the fourth security patch update of the year, and it brings several fixes and improvements so you can enjoy a smoother experience on your device while running any function. Apart from these, the new patch update also brings new security-related adjustments that make your device more secure. Let’s discuss this in detail.

The latest security update includes over 50 patches that Google adds; from those, 46 are high-security patches, four are critical, and one is moderate. In addition, Samsung has also included 15 additional fixes for enhancing the overall security of Galaxy devices.

The update is now available for the unlocked variant of the Galaxy Note 20 series. The update is currently spotted on several networks, including T-Mobile Verizon, MetroPCS, AT&T, US Cellular, Sprint, Spectrum, Comcast, and Tracfone. It is expected to be available on the remaining networks.

The Galaxy Note 20 was launched back in 2020, the device came with Android 10, and later the device grabbed three more Android updates and is currently running on Android 13. Lastly, it has also received a One UI 5.1 update. Now it is no longer eligible for further Android updates, but it will get some minor updates in the form of security patches.
