US carrier-locked Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy A52 5G getting April 2023 update

Samsung first made the April 2023 security patch available to its Galaxy devices. Initially, the company has landed a new security update on its latest flagship device, i.e. Galaxy S23 series, with some massive camera improvements; now, the company started distributing the update for other Galaxy devices.

Now the company is rolling out the April 2023 security update for the Galaxy Note 20 series and Galaxy A52 5G devices. It doesn’t have any new features, but it includes some improvements that will surely enhance the device’s functioning. With this update, we expect the Galaxy Note 20 may have the Image Clipper feature.

Galaxy Note 20 series

Samsung has rolled out the April 2023 security update for the Galaxy Note 20 series devices. As per the changelog, the update includes improvements regarding Camera and Gallery, and as usual, it brings some patches that fix issues related to security. The update comes with firmware version numbers N981USQU4HWD1 and N986USQU4HWD1 for the carrier-locked (T-Mobile and Sprint) variants of Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, respectively.

Galaxy A52 5G

The Galaxy A52 5G was launched back in 2021, and it came with Android 11. Later the device received two more major updates, and currently, it is running on Android 13. The device has also received the One UI 5.1 update. Now the company has pushed a new security update for the device in the form of an April 2023 security update. The update doesn’t bring any new features or camera improvements like Galaxy Note 20, but it includes security fixes that strengthen the mechanism of the device so it can defend itself from external threats. The locked variant of Sprint Galaxy A52 5G is getting the update with the software version number A526USQU8EWD1.

Users who own carrier-locked variants of Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy A52 5G are started getting the update through OTA. So you should receive a notification about the update, and you can easily update the device just by going through the notification. Alternatively, you can also install the update by following the below steps.

How to install

  1. Go to System settings 
  2. Then choose the software update option
  3. Now touch on the download and install button
  4. Here wait until the search finish
  5. Now if it says new update available, hit the Download button
  6. It will start downloading and will be installed automatically.
