Why is Netflix not on the list?

Now you may be wondering why such a popular streaming platform, Netflix, is not included on this list. The answer isn’t that clear, but it seems that Google TV’s relations aren’t that nice with Netflix. However, some of Netflix’s content can be accessed using Google TV’s directory lookup feature, but unfortunately, Netflix blocks its original content from being used in this watchlist feature.

However, things weren’t like this from the start because Netflix was available on Google TV previously, but then the streaming platform broke its support from Google TV in the fall of the year 2020. Not only that, but Netflix also ripped off the support for account linking. Hence, Google TV won’t show us any recommendations for Netflix content. Besides, we do get to see Netflix’s advertisements on the Google TV platform.

Where are Google Play Movies and Google Play Store?

Besides Netflix, there is a little confusion with Google’s famous Google Play Movies app; why it isn’t on the list? If you are also wondering, so, let us tell you Google has replaced it with Google TV as Google TV, and these aforementioned apps have a similar function of showing content from various platforms. As this app wasn’t used widely in the past, Google TV now has a better chance to support this function.

The Google Play Store is not visible as an application in Google TV; to use it, you should ask Google Assistant to “open the Play Store.”
