Samsung is actively rolling out May 2023 security update to eligible Galaxy devices. Till now, the company has updated most of the smartphones worldwide, but in the US, there are many devices that haven’t received the update yet (including flagships). The main reason for behaving it is carrier limitations.

However, major carriers like Verizon are gradually releasing the update. Currently, Verizon has rolled out the May 2023 security update to two more Samsung smartphones, including Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy S21 FE.

Notably, the update is available for the carrier-locked variant of these devices, so users will get the new software file of the May 2023 security update for Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy S21 FE with different version numbers F926USQS3FWE1 and G990USQS6EWD8. It is worth noticing that Galaxy Z Fold 3 has already received the update in the US on two network carriers, including T-Mobile and MetroPCS.

The May 2023 security update brings over 70 fixes that aim to improve the security of the device. Apart from these, it doesn’t come with any innovation. However, it provides some significant security patches that fix the bug of the existing function of the Galaxy device and ultimately enhance the overall performance of the device.

Both of the devices are enjoying extended software support, which is possible because of recent policy changes. Last year Samsung issued a new policy for some flagship devices and mentioned the eligibility of the devices. Here, the company has also listed the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy S21 FE, so they will get a new Android update this year in the form of Android 14.
