Samsung moving forward to capture the XR device chip market
Samsung is one of the biggest players in the electronics market, but in terms of its chips, the company is not performing as expected; it has almost defeated the other competitor like Qualcomm for making strong performance chips for its devices; for instance, you can see the Galaxy S23 series device, in these devices the company has ditched its own Exynos processor and used special Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
However, Samsung is trying hard to overcome it and doing research and development to make a powerful processor for the devices; now, according to the latest information company is taking the big step to make its Exynos processors capable of handling XR (Extended reality).
To introduce the XR device chip company has to face commissions with Google and Qualcomm; as per the Korea Economic Daily, the company could design completely refreshed chips or may modify existing chips. The main aim of these chipsets is to make the running of the operating system and application and advance calculating, sensor data, and tracking user motions.
With the advancements of the XR chips, a large amount of data can be easily analysed, and we can get more accurate results. Further, the reports give the expanses like live translation, immersive meetings and navigation.
The XR-equipped devices demand is growing gradually; it is estimated that these devices can hit the milestone of 110 million by 2025. On the other hand, another market tracker, IDC, forecasts that the XR devices will reach $50.9 billion in 2025. The other competitor of Samsung, Meta, has also released its high-end mixed reality headset, Meta Quest Pro, which sold over 10 million units worldwide.
