Samsung’s first folding phone and Galaxy A51 grab May 2023 security update

Samsung is now rolling out the May 2023 security patch to more Galaxy devices. The company has surprisingly updated its original Galaxy Fold device after a long time. Along with this, the Korean giant is also updating its mid-range device, i.e., Galaxy A51. 

Users who own Galaxy Fold and Galaxy A51 devices can identify the latest update by the firmware version numbers F900FXXU6HWE2 and A515FXXS7HWD1, respectively. The first folding phone of the company is getting the update in France, while Galaxy A51 is grabbing the same update in two countries, including Brazil and Colombia.

According to the official changelog, the latest update doesn’t bring any new features, but it includes some security enhancements for the device. In detail, the May 2023 security patch includes over 70 fixes that improve the overall performance and stability of the device.

The Galaxy Fold was released back in 2019. The company has packed the device with Android 9.0. Later the device received three more major updates and is currently running on Android 12. However, now the device is no longer eligible for any further Android update.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy A51 was also released back in 2019; the company has introduced the device in the midrange segment. The device came with Android 10 preinstalled. Later it received three major updates, and now it is running on the latest One UI 5.1 based on Android 13. The device is no longer eligible for any major updates, but it is still eligible for some new security updates.
