Samsung has rolled out the October 2023 update to almost all eligible smartphones, but on the other side, the company hasn’t expanded the update to its tables, but it is gradually doing so. Earlier, Samsung updated the Galaxy Tab S7 series and Galaxy Tab S8 series in Europe, which is now expanding to the US.

The Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7+ are now receiving an October 2023 update in the US, which is currently spotted in the locked variant of devices. Users who own the 5G model of devices can identify the latest update by the firmware version number T*78USQS5DWJ2. The update is now spotted on two carriers, including T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint.

Meanwhile, the Wi-Fi variants of the Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra are getting a new update with firmware version numbers X700XXS5BWI1, X800XXS5BWI1, and X700XXS5BWI1, respectively. Samsung has listed the Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy Tab S7 in the quarterly security update list, which means this device will at least get four security patches per year.

The October 2023 update doesn’t come with any new features, but it brings some new fixes for the security of the devices. According to the official documentation, the latest patch update brings more than 40 fixes

from those 34 patches added by Google that enhance the Android OS in terms of security. Additionally, Samsung added 12 more patches that bring enhancements to the Galaxy devices.

The Samsung Tab S7 series is a flagship tablet; it was introduced back in 2020; the device came with Android 10 preinstalled; while the Galaxy Tab S8 was released back in 2022 and comes with Android 12. Later, both devices received more Android updates and are currently running on Android 13.

As the Galaxy Tab S8 has only received one major update, it is still eligible for three more Android updates. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab S7 series will no longer get any new updates for the device, but it still gets some minor updates in the form of a new security patch, at least for one more year.
