Galaxy S20, Galaxy A54, and Galaxy S23 FE enjoy December 2023 security update in the US

Samsung is swiftly rolling out the December 2023 update to several Galaxy devices, continuing the streak. The update is now available for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy A54, and Galaxy S23 FE belonging to the US. However, due to carrier limitations, the update is limited to some units.

According to the information, the December 2023 update is available for the locked units of these devices, which are affiliated with some carriers. Users who own the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra affiliated with T-Mobile, MetroPCS, and Sprint can identify the latest update by the firmware version numbers G98*USQS8HWK1 respectively. While the Verizon-affiliated units are getting the update with a different version number, G98*VSQS8HWK1.

The same update for the Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy A54 is carrying the firmware version numbers S711USQU1BWK6 and A546VSQS5BWL2, respectively. The December 2023 update doesn’t come with any significant updates for the devices, but it will improve the overall security of the devices.

According to the official documentation, the latest update will introduce more than 60 security vulnerability fixes included by both Google and Samsung, providing Galaxy users with extra enhancements for their devices.

For your information, the Galaxy S20 series is no longer eligible to get any major updates, but other two devices, including the Galaxy A54 and the Galaxy S23 FE, are eligible to get at least four major updates, and from them, one of the major updates, One UI 6 and Android 14, is already rolled out. And similar to this, both devices will get three more major updates up to Android 17.
