Google is continuously upgrading its Messaging platform to enhance user experience and now it anticipates adding a new “Mention” feature to make group chats way less messy.

A report from one of our reliable colleagues, Android Authority, revealed that it has discovered a new APK teardown that helps predict the forthcoming ‘Mention” feature that could make group chats much more convenient on the platform.

Reportedly, while exploring the latest beta version of the Google Messages applications it speculated that the company is working on a new “Mentions” feature. This new option will allow you in group chats to tag specific people using the ‘@’ symbol similar to WhatsApp and Telegram.

It seems that tagging a group member directly is quite more efficient than simply mentioning their name, as it ensures the intended person receives a notification and avoids the chance of missing the messages.

Previously, Samsung announced that its forthcoming smartphones would feature Google Messages due to RCS support as their default messaging app, replacing Samsung Messages; however, older devices still have the option to choose among them.

However, later against this announcement it also reported that Samsung Messages App Supports RCS on Galaxy S25 series with One UI 7. A few months back, the Korean tech giant advised Galaxy users to switch to Google Messages as Samsung Messages to end RCS support.
