Samsung’s high-end S series smartphones, the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra owners have already started testing the One UI 8 beta 2 build in a few selective countries. However, it looks like Samsung is testing the beta build internally behind closed doors, a fresh functionality emerged within the testing: Call Caption and Real Time Text.
While the official One UI 8 beta 2 changelog significantly lists some key bugs fixes and other relevant improvements, the occurrence of the new feature hints that the latest build running on Galaxy S25 devices hides something exciting, other than the features mentioned in the changelog.
More specifically, a user MKarakachanov on X has first spotted the new feature, named Call Caption and Real Time Text on the Galaxy S25 Ultra running an all new One UI 8 beta build, ZYF5. However, the official One UI 8 beta 2 carried the ZYF3 build number.
Interestingly, the Call Caption feature could show what each person is speaking on the phone’s screen during calls. At the same time, these captions proved to be useful when the other person is finding it difficult to hear your words properly, while the other person is informed via a Pop up that the current call is being captioned.
Beyond this, the next function is Real Time Text or RTT, which lets users have a convenient conversation when a voice call is going on. During calls, this feature makes the other person see every letter that you are typing in real-time, more or less similar to other instant messaging platforms such as WhatsApp.
Also, you can easily make changes into the text that is typed or erase it completely; however, the person on the other side can see what you have erased or changed.
The RTT feature works for audio as well, other than text, while it is perfectly suitable for a person having hearing or speech disabilities.
Well, this report sounds interesting; however, it’s noticeable that the One UI 8 Beta is currently in its early testing phase, and hopefully Galaxy fans may see these features in future beta updates.
