Samsung has already opened its Android 16-based One UI 8 beta program for the Galaxy S25 series and released two beta updates, which offered several features to upgrade the overall UI, including a potentially life-saving feature called the Earthquake Warnings feature.
Samsung the latest One UI 8 beta update introduces improvements and several convenient features, including notable Earthquake Warnings. However, it’s not an exclusive feature, since it’s already available on Android devices in general.
Noticeably, Samsung didn’t mention anything regarding the upgraded Earthquake Warnings feature in the official One UI 8 changelog. Meanwhile, a user, @GalaxyTechie, on X, revealed that he has discovered the upgraded Earthquake Warnings feature in the One UI 8 update, holding the version number 1.0.07.0, which includes a lot more features as compared to what Google designed for Android.
One of the noticeable parts is its design language that feels native to One UI compared to the older version available on One UI 7 and the current One UI 8 public beta build. Reportedly, now it lets you customize the seismic intensity threshold for the feature to trigger a warning. It also allows you to check out essential details regarding emergency shelters nearby and set emergency contacts so that you can contact them quickly in case of an earthquake.
Now, user can enter their medical details, which can be incredibly useful for emergency responders, and can set different seismic intensity thresholds for the day & night. It is now compatible with explaining seismic intensity in a simpler language on that page, which can be easily accessed by navigating a few easy steps: Settings >> Safety and emergency >> Earthquake warnings.
