Samsung is looking forward to introducing the next-gen smartwatches in Q3 2025, but its global smartwatch market position during Q1 2025 is not appreciable.
Samsung is all set to launch three smartwatches next month on July 9, at the summer Unpacked event, including Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 (2025). Alongside these watches, the company will also launch, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip FE foldable phones.
Meanwhile, a new report from International Data Corporation (IDC) revealed that Samsung failed to secure even the top third position in the global smartwatch market during the first quarter of this year, which is quite disappointing for the firm.
According to the report, Samsung has shipped a total of 3.4 million units of Galaxy smart bands and smartwatches, giving it a 7.5% market share, and with these digits, it secured fourth position on the leaderboard. Noticeably, during the same time last year, during Q1 2024, Samsung shipped 3.6 million wrist-worn smart devices and had an 8.8% market share. This shows that sales have dropped, which leads to secure disappointing fourth position.
On the rivalry side, Apple shipped a total of 7 million units of Apple Watches, which gave it a 15.5% market share and secured the third position in the leaderboard. Whereas, Xiaomi is in second position with 8.7 million unit sales, and Huawei is in first place with 10 million unit shipment.
It remains to see whether the coming Galaxy Watch 8 series and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 smartwatches will help the company to lead the market again.
