The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is supposed to launch in early Q1 2026, and the base variant of the lineup is anticipated to be the thinnest base model ever in the Galaxy S family, with under 7 mm.
Samsung has already started gearing up the next-generation Galaxy S26 series, which is anticipated to include at least three variants: Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+/Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. A few reports suggested that the company could replace the ‘Plus’ model with the Edge, due to the lower sales rate of Plus variants; however, it’s not officially confirmed yet.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Base Model Could Be Under 7mm Thick
Meanwhile, a tipster, Anthony, on X, shared a post claiming that the Galaxy S26 (base) will be the thinnest base model in the Galaxy S lineup since the S6, with a thickness of under 7 mm. If the report comes true, then the coming Galaxy S26 will set a new benchmark of slimness for base models. The current Galaxy S25 (base) model measures 7.2 mm in thickness.
The tipster also mentioned that the Galaxy S26 Edge is also anticipated to be thinner, potentially matching its rival, the iPhone 17 Air, at 5.5 mm thickness. Whereas the Ultra variant of the lineup, Galaxy S26 Ultra, is also rumored to get thinner and lighter at under 200 g.
However, the company has yet to reveal the official details regarding the design, thickness measurement, and weight of the upcoming Galaxy S26 models, so it remains to be seen whether the claims will come into existence.
Recently, it’s been reported that the Galaxy S26 Ultra may get a brighter, more efficient CoE OLED screen and feature Sony’s 1-inch 200MP camera upgrade.
