Galaxy Z Fold 7 Buyer Concerned After Noticing Phone Doesn’t Open Fully Flat

Samsung has finally hit its new foldables in stores Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, which is great news for the offline buyers. However, instead of convenience, there is a new concern about the screen in the demo units not opening flat.

According to the Reddit users posted a photo of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 opening here. You can clearly see the device is still slightly bent. Apart from these, there are some other users who also confirmed the same issues in store units like Best Buy. However, there are a fair amount also contradicting it.

As per the report, Galaxy Z Fold 7 opens completely flat. Meanwhile, when the devices are placed on the table, there is only a small gap at the hinge, which is normal as per the standards and does not feel like any major issue like in the photo.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 uses the latest Armor Flex Hinge, which is thinner and lighter. The benefit of this armor is that it reduces creases and is said to increase durability by distributing force more evenly during folding and unfolding.

It looks like the issues may be limited to some retail store units, so let’s wait until Samsung issues any clarification if the problem spreads widely, and until then we can assume it’s a local issue.
