One UI 8 Reveals Early Clues About Galaxy Z Tri-Fold’s Processor

Samsung is actively working on debuting in the tri-fold market by launching its very first tri-folding smartphone by the end of this year. Meanwhile, a new internal beta of One UI 8 confirmed the chipset of the device.

Initially, it was rumored that Samsung would call its tri-folding phone the ‘Galaxy G Fold’; however, that is not the case anymore, since recently, Samsung filed a new trademark application for the name “Galaxy Z TriFold” in South Korea. However, the trademark doesn’t immediately make it clear whether it’s the final name of the device or the name of the entire tri-fold series.

Now, a new report from one of our reliable colleagues, Android Authority, revealed that in a new One UI 8 internal beta, a string of code has been spotted that mentions “siop_q7mq_sm8750.” The “q7mq” part is known to be the codename for the tri-fold. Here, the “sm8750” in the spotted string refers to the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which means that the device will be powered by this processor.

It’s not surprising, since the previous rumors have already revealed that Samsung will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset to power its first tri-fold phone, but it’s nice that the string finally confirmed the chipset.

According to the previous report, the device is expected to feature a 10-inch OLED display, a triple camera setup, including a 200MP primary, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 10MP telephoto sensor at the back, and a 10MP selfie camera at the front. The official specs sheet of the device has yet to be revealed, so it remains to be seen whether the leaked details will come true.
