Samsung Galaxy Watch to Offer Fingerprint or PIN-Free Unlocking for Galaxy Phones Soon

Samsung Galaxy Watch users, you can soon unlock your paired Galaxy device without even a PIN or biometrics directly via your smartwatch.

Samsung’s Wear OS-based Galaxy Watches will soon get a new capability to unlock the paired Galaxy Watch without even asking for a PIN or any biometrics every single time. A new report from one of our reliable colleagues, Android Authority, revealed that Google has been working on a new feature, the Identity Check, which is now spotted in the latest beta version (25.29.31) of Google Play Services with a connected smartwatch as a trust signal of your smartphone.

Originally, the Identity Check was a security feature that was introduced with Android 15, which adds an extra layer of protection from phone theft and unauthorized access when you are outside your predefined trusted location, for instance, home or workplace.

This new feature will make your smartwatch compatible with acting as a trusted device. It will be efficient when a Galaxy Watch is connected, unlocked, and nearby your phone; it may not require you to enter your PIN, password, or biometrics to unlock your paired Galaxy phone.

It seems that this upcoming feature will enhance the user experience, as they can instantly unlock their smartphones. However, currently the feature is in the development phase, and it remains to be seen exactly how much time the company will take to roll it out.
