Samsung is quite confident in maintaining its leading position in the foldable market against Apple’s foldable iPhone, as it doesn’t even take it as a threat.
The company made its debut in the foldable segment with the launch of the original Galaxy Fold back in 2019. Over the years, it has expanded the foldable family, and recently it introduced the latest seventh-generation foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, which have already set a new pre-order benchmark.
Whereas now, Apple is gearing up to launch its very first foldable iPhone, whereas Samsung has already gained seven years of experience in the market. However, Apple is a major rival of Samsung in the smartphone market, so it might follow the legacy in the foldable segment also.
Regarding this, during an interview (via) Bloomberg asked how it felt about Apple entering the foldable smartphone market, and of course, it seemed quite confident that a foldable iPhone wouldn’t be a massive threat, as the former has many years of experience in the field.
Samsung was asked how it would “keep its edge” when Apple launches its first foldable iPhone. Intelligently answering the question, Chief Operating Officer (COO) for MX Business, Won-Joon Choi, said, “We’ve been doing this for many years, and we have accumulated a lot of technologies and know-how. And, having another global technology company in this category is good for the industry and is going to be great for the consumers.”
The statement shows the confidence Samsung has gained by years of experience in the foldable market and also hints that Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone may not be as good as the newly launched Galaxy Z Fold 7, either in terms of hardware, design, durability, slimness, or software.
Recently Apple did a funny thing: it published Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 promotional video via its official Weibo handle in China.
