Samsung smart appliance owners, get ready for a more enhanced experience, as your appliances will now get updates for up to seven years.
Initially, the Korean tech giant has brought its dedicated custom user interface (One UI) for its Android-based devices, including smartphones and tablets. Last year, it expanded the One UI to its TVs, and now it is looking forward to expanding to its home appliance family, such as refrigerators, washers, and air conditioners.
Samsung Promises 7 Years of Software Support for Smart Home Appliances
Samsung is not only bringing the One UI to its home appliances but also promising seven years of software support from the date of launch, similar to Galaxy smartphones and tablets. One of the interesting facts is that you won’t have to buy a new Samsung AC or refrigerator to enjoy One UI, as the company will roll out the update to all the compatible models launched in 2024 starting from September.
Noticeably, for Galaxy phones, One UI is based on Android, but it’s not the case with the home appliance version. However, despite that, it would bring a few convenient features to the company’s AC or refrigerator; for instance, Bixby, Gallery, and wider Samsung TV Plus availability.
Bixby will have Voice ID to recognize each user’s voice and switch to their profile for a more personalized experience. Apart from this, compatible devices, like AC, EHS, slide-in induction cooking ranges, and washers, will be compatible with Knox Matrix support for monitoring each other’s security status. While other home appliances with screens will get passkey support for an enhanced login experience.
Samsung will integrate SmartThings with all Wi-Fi-enabled home appliances for a smarter home experience and will also expand the Now Brief to the eligible home appliances to provide relevant information at a glance.
