Samsung is working on its next-generation in-house chipset, the Exynos 2600, which is supposed to power the Galaxy S26 models in at least a few markets. Interestingly, it matched the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 in early Geekbench scores.
A reliable tipster, @Jukanlosreve, shared Geekbench scores of Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2600 chipset on X. According to the listing, the chipset has almost closed the performance gap with its toughest rival, Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.
The single-core score of the Exynos 2600 chip is 3,309, and the multi-core score is 11,256. On the rivalry side, Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 has already been listed on the Geekbench database, and its single-core score is 3,393, and its multi-core score is 11,515. These scores have almost lessened the performance gap and hint at the tough battle between the two high-end processors.
For a few years, the Korean tech giant has relied on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset for its flagship Galaxy S series; for instance, the Galaxy S25 series is completely powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The reason behind relying on a third-party chipset was the underperformance of Exynos chips. Now it won’t be the case anymore, since the company’s relentless efforts may finally pay off with its first-ever 2 nm-based Exynos 2600 processor.
The Exynos 2600 processor has a 10-core CPU setup, including one prime core at 3.8 GHz, three performance cores at 3.26 GHz, and six efficiency cores at 2.76 GHz. It remains to be seen whether Samsung will consider using the Exynos 2600 chip to power the upcoming Galaxy S26 models or again go with the Snapdragon widely.
