Samsung is considering using its in-house Exynos 2600 chipset to power the next-generation Galaxy S26 Ultra, which seems a bold step, as for the last three generations, it has relied on Qualcomm’s chip for its ultra models.
The upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup will include three models: Pro, Edge, and Ultra. To date, several leaks and rumors suggest that Samsung is working on its in-house flagship Exynos 2600 chipset, which will power the upcoming Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge initially, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra is highly anticipated to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. However, it could not be the true case, since a new report suggests otherwise.
According to Daishin Securities expert Park Kang-ho, Samsung is expected to “open the door” for Exynos to appear even on the Ultra version. This suggests that the company is looking forward to ditching Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 over its Exynos 2600 chipset for the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
However, a previous report suggests that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC is tipped to score 4M+ on the AnTuTu score. This means that Samsung’s Exynos 2600 must score better than its rival to power the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
If the report comes true, then it will be the first time in three generations, as the Galaxy S22 Ultra was the last model Samsung powered with Exynos. However, Samsung hasn’t released any official statement regarding this report yet, so it remains to be seen whether the company will use Exynos for the Galaxy S26 Ultra after years or still the Snapdragon.
