Samsung Galaxy users, get ready to experience more protection on your Galaxy smartphone with the latest One UI 8.5, as it may be able to protect you from photosensitive epilepsy (PSE).
Samsung is supposed to introduce the latest One UI 8.5 with the next-generation Galaxy S26 series, then expand it to more devices widely. In the past few days, leaks and rumors have already suggested several features and upgrades coming with the One UI 8.5 to enhance the overall One UI ecosystem.
Meanwhile, one of our reliable colleagues, Android Authority, revealed that it has discovered lines of code for a feature that will protect you from photosensitive epilepsy (PSE) by lowering the brightness of the display when it detects flashing lights.
According to the report, the description for the feature reads, “When watching video content, any part that includes a repeated strobe effect exceeding a certain level will be dimmed. This effect can only work on the display of this device and may not be supported depending on some app development environments.”
The discovered code also suggests that users may be allowed to customize when the feature should kick in. More precisely, it may also allow you to determine at what flashing intensity the feature should start lowering the brightness. Noticeably, the ‘video content’ part in the description revealed that the feature may only be compatible with videos and not in games, which seems a notable lack.
However, there’s no official detail regarding this upgrade yet, so it remains to be seen whether the leaked feature will come into existence, and if possible, then how convenient it will be.
