Qualcomm teases Samsung’s XR Headset at Snapdragon Summit 2025

Samsung’s upcoming XR headset is again in the headlines, as Qualcomm, at the Snapdragon Summit 2025 held in Hawaii, USA, showcased the Project Infinite extended reality (XR) headset.

The Korean tech giant has already teased its XR headset at several events, and now Qualcomm has showcased it at the Snapdragon Summit 2025, which appears to be an attempt to highlight that Qualcomm, Samsung Electronics, and other companies are collaborating on the development of XR technology.

It’s already revealed that Samsung will officially launch the XR headset sometime next month. Meanwhile, a new report revealed that Qualcomm displayed Project Infinity in the Training Zone and also explained that “The (Qualcomm) Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is used in Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S25 Ultra, Edge, and Z Fold 7, supports smooth photo editing and video speed control with on-device artificial intelligence (AI).”

Reportedly, the Snapdragon product announcement keynote will be attended by representatives from several brands, including Qualcomm, Samsung Electronics, Microsoft, Google, and others. All of these brands have collaborated on the development of the XR devices.

Qualcomm revealed that Samsung is using microdisplays (OLEDoS) for its XR headset from Sony, and to secure its supply and pricing, it will also get OLEDoS from its own Samsung Display as well, which will use the project to showcase its XR display technology. On the rivalry side, Apple’s Vision Pro also used Sony-supplied OLEDOS.

It remains to be seen whether the launch of this XR headset will lead to closer ties between Qualcomm and Samsung.
