Samsung aims to evolve SmartThings via new features to enhance daily safety and vehicle connectivity

Samsung is focusing on improving and enhancing its AI home experience via SmartThings for everyday safety and usability. Meanwhile, the company unveils new features for the SmartThings app through the latest update.

Taking the smart home connected innovations to the next level, Samsung Electronics took it to the official newsroom and announced that it’s unveiling new features for SmartThings that aim to enhance everyday safety and vehicle connectivity experiences.

Samsung elaborated that it’s integrating two new features via the SmartThings app update: firstly, SmartThings Safe and Home-to-Car Vehicle connectivity in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group, where the former is designed to help users and their family members stay safe, while the latter extends support for SmartThings to vehicles for seamless connectivity and convenience in everyday life.

SmartThings Safe: Ensuring safety of users & their families

To overcome the growing safety requirements of the users, Samsung has introduced SmartThings Safe to improve users’ safety in their day-to-day life. When the user thinks that their life is in danger or is not feeling well, pressing a new button named “Shortcut” on their smartphone or tablet screen will automatically share their time and location details in real time with the places registered in My Places in the SmartThings app. Also, the notifications from the shared information can be easily viewed on phones, tablets, TVs, and Family Hub refrigerators.

The New Home to Car feature is here in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group

Other than that, Samsung just launched another feature, named Home to Car for SmartThings, in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group, for offering an all-new level of convenience on a day-to-day basis. Since SmartThings is being integrated within the Hyundai and Kia cars, this will allow users to check their vehicle’s status while also controlling functions such as starting the engine, locking or unlocking the door, turning on the air conditioner, and starting or stopping the electric car’s charging via the SmartThings app.

Boosts SmartThings’ Home Life feature by adding automated routines

Additionally, initially introduced in June this year, SmartThings’ Home Life feature gets automated routine recommendations. It provides a more personalized experience to the users and their families while also recommending automation routines like automatically turning on the hood when the cooktop is turned on and pet care services.

Well, the SmartThings Safe feature is already available via the latest version of the SmartThings app, while the Home to Car function will be first rolled out in South Korea and will be followed by the expansion to other countries (with the US market as the first priority) in the coming future.
