Samsung introduced its “Galaxy Ring” as a smart wearable ring to monetize health and fitness metrics, but unfortunately, after a year, the ring’s battery swelling has sparked safety concerns.
Last year, at the Galaxy Unpacked event in July, Samsung launched its first-ever smart ring called the Galaxy Ring. It’s been a complete year since the ring launched, and now a user named Daniel has come up with a hectic ring’s battery swelling issue.
According to a tech user and reviewer, Daniel, his Galaxy Ring’s battery began swelling while he was wearing it, and within a few hours, the swelling caused pain and made it quite difficult to remove the ring. He tried soap, water, and even slippery hand cream to slide the ring off, but nothing worked.
At the end, he had to be denied boarding on a flight due to the swelling, as he had to go to the hospital for emergency removal. Eventually, doctors had to remove the ring using medical lubricant and ice. The images shared by the user showed that the battery visibly puffed up and was damaged. The incident seems hectic and painful; however, Samsung has yet to release its official statement regarding the incident.
The Galaxy Ring offers comprehensive health tracking by monitoring heart rate, sleep quality, skin temperature, and blood oxygen levels for users’ convenience, but beyond the expectations, its battery swelling raises safety concerns among users.
A few months back, it was reported that Samsung could unveil the Galaxy Ring 2 next year alongside the Galaxy S26 series.
