One UI 8.5 to Bring Smart AI Notification Summaries to Galaxy Devices

Samsung is gearing up to release its next software version, One UI 8.5, and now the new firmware has appeared for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which gives a proper look at the rumored AI Notification Summaries.

Samsung is actively working on its upcoming One UI 8.5 iteration, which is supposed to debut on the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026. To date of writing, the company hasn’t revealed any features, improvements, and tweaks coming with this update, but leaks and reports have revealed almost everything

Meanwhile, a new report from one of our colleagues, SamMobile, revealed that a new One UI 8.5 firmware gives a sneak peek at the rumored Galaxy AI-powered notification summary feature. This means that the company is finally considering offering the awaited notification summary with the upcoming One UI 8.5.

This feature will be convenient for making lengthy notifications easier to digest with the help of AI. Reportedly, the first time you pull down the notification panel in One UI 8.5, you’re greeted with a pop-up that explains the feature.

In the settings menu, you will see an option to choose which apps you want to be excluded from notification summaries, but for now, every installed app is listed by default, and there’s no option to remove them; however, the feature isn’t functional yet. The notification summaries will rely on Google Cloud, the same as other AI features available in One UI.
