Samsung has expanded the capabilities of its dedicated news app called “Samsung News.” It can now show up-to-the-minute sports scores and financial market information in the US.
The Korean tech giant offered its official Samsung News app to all Galaxy smartphones that run at least Android 9.0 or later, with at least 4GB of RAM. Currently, the company makes the app available in selected regions, including the USA, UK, Korea, Singapore, Canada, India, Bangladesh, and Australia.
Now the company announced that it is shaking hands with Yahoo to make Samsung News more useful for sports fans and investors. This means that the news app now shows up-to-the-minute sports scores and financial market information through dedicated sections in Samsung News.
The service will be powered by Yahoo Media Group, which runs the highly useful Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Finance resources. The sports scores will appear in the dedicated Sports tab in Samsung News as well as a standalone stock market module, making it quite easy to keep an eye on your favorite teams’ scores and your portfolio within the app.
Noticeably, currently, this new sports scores and financial market information feature is only rolled out for the US and Canadian users, but it’s expected that soon the company will expand the availability.
Users will also be able to access additional content to enhance their experience, like breaking news, experts, and market insights; written and video sports coverage; and more.
