Samsung starts Galaxy S26’s rumored Exynos 2600 chip mass production

Samsung started mass production for its upcoming flagship SoC, Exynos 2600, which is supposed to be the heart of the next-gen Galaxy S26 series.

Under the hood, the Korean tech giant has been working on its in-house Exynos 2600 chipset for so long. Now, a reliable industry source revealed that Samsung Electronics has begun mass production of the Exynos 2600 mobile processor designed by System LSI and manufactured by Samsung Foundry.

The chip is built on the latest 2-nanometer process, which is highly anticipated to make a major step forward from the previous generation. The company struggled hard and incurred losses of trillions of won each quarter over the past year, largely due to the failure of the Exynos 2500 chipset based on a 3nm process. It was expected to power the Galaxy S25 series, but the poor performance and defect rates forced the company to power the entire series with Snapdragon 8 Elite.

According to the financial report, the chip purchasing cost of the Device eXperience (DX) division increased by nearly 30% during the 1H 2025, and the reason behind this is the exclusive use of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip in the Galaxy S25 series. Facing all of these challenges, the company is now strategizing to bring back its Exynos chipset to gain more control over supply and significantly reduce costs, making its flagship Galaxy S series smartphones more competitive.

Now, the company is hoping to regain its position and be back in the game with the Exynos 2600 SoC; it will be interesting to see how efficient this chipset will be for the firm.
