Galaxy Tri-Fold to feature three batteries, one for each screen

Samsung seems quite close to launching its first-ever multi-folding Galaxy Tri-Fold phone, and ahead of the official announcement, a newly leaked patent shows its three batteries.

For so long, the company has been working on its upcoming Galaxy Tri-Fold, which is already announced to launch by the end of this year; however, it hasn’t revealed the exact date for the launch. Last week, it was reported that the company will launch the device during the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, which is scheduled to take place in the southeastern city of Gyeongju from October 31 to November 1.

Now, a blog, Galaxy Club, reveals that a newly filed Galaxy Tri-Fold patent shows that it has three batteries. The leaked patent sketch shows that each of the three displays of the trifold segments has its own dedicated battery.

Noticeably, the display where cameras are placed has the smallest battery compared to the other two. The middle screen, which holds the cover screen, features the second-largest battery, while the third display, which is sandwiched between the other two when folded, has the largest battery.

Apart from the batteries, the patent hasn’t revealed any specific design details or specifications of the tri-fold; it remains to be seen exactly what new novelties the device will bring. According to the previously leaked report, Samsung will offer a major camera upgrade of 100x zoom and key features, such as the ability to continue apps on the main screen, the Samsung Internet app with Galaxy AI activated, DeX support, and home screen apps from the cover display that can be copied over to the main screen.
