One UI 8.5 could bring a minor change in the overall look of app icons

Samsung is currently engaged in developing the upcoming One UI 8.5 version, which is supposed to debut with the next-generation Galaxy S26 series. Since leaks have been circulating online for a while now, another report claims a minor change in the app icons, which is probably arriving with the One UI 8.5 update.

Well, the leaked features and changes arriving with the upcoming One UI 8.5 version have already created a hype among the entire Galaxy community. Meanwhile, a new leak suggests that Samsung is dropping the idea to continue with the same app icons.

Basically, the tipster, UniverseIce via X, reported that the newest One UI 8.5 build spotted carrying the CYJ7A version number brings a small yet interesting change in the look and finish of Samsung’s app icons.

According to the picture, it can only be noticed that Samsung is perhaps working towards strengthening the inner details of the app icons in order to make them look even more realistic and visually appealing. At the same time, the gradient-based background of the app icon now takes on a more 3D finish for a refined depth effect to the app.

Other than that, the color palette of the app icons seems to bear more vibrance, which provides a crystal-clear difference if the app consists of more than one color.

Well, the hype just doesn’t end here. Samsung’s One UI 8.5 is supposed to be powered with Android 16 QPR2 and not Android 16. The version has already been spotted running on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 internally, while the build is further rumored to bring a host of features and changes, including Auto Answer with AIAutomatic Call Screening, AI-powered notification summaries, and more (tap on the link to know more details regarding One UI 8.5).

Nevertheless, One UI 8.5 appears to be shaping up to be a major upgrade over the One UI 8.0 version, and Samsung is already preparing for the One UI 8.5 beta program, which is supposed to begin next month, but of course, the official confirmation from Samsung still awaits.
