Intel shared crucial details regarding its next-generation laptop chipset lineup called Panther Lake, and it will be the first to support Samsung’s LPCAMM, an innovative DRAM form factor designed to offer better performance and power efficiency.
Intel’s chips are significant, as they are the first from the company to use its most advanced manufacturing process, 18A. One of the notable facts of Panther Lake is that it supports Samsung’s innovative DRAM form factor called LPCAMM.
The LPCAMM stands for Low Power Compression Attached Memory Module, a new memory module standard for PCs and laptops that is more space-efficient, power-efficient, and higher-performing compared to the usual SODIMM RAM
Samsung’s version of LPCAMM is compatible with reaching speeds up to 9,600 MT/s, which hints at enhanced performance for daily tasks, gaming, and even AI.
Intel uses its most advanced technology, called 18A, for its latest Panther Lake chipset and also integrates a mix of performance cores and efficient cores, along with Intel Arc graphics using the new Xe3 design.
Apart from these, the chip also includes other features, such as Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, Thunderbolt 4, and support for PCIe Gen 5; noticeably, all of these are efficient for faster connections for SSDs and other devices.
