Samsung pushes Android 16-based One UI 8.0 update for Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition

Samsung is continuously delivering the latest Android 16-based One UI 8 update for all Galaxy devices; meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is getting the update, beginning in South Korea.

​As spotted on Samsung Community page, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition model has started receiving a new software update that apparently integrates the ongoing Android 16-based One UI 8 rollout, which is currently available in Samsung’s hometown, and is expected to reach Chinese variants in the coming weeks.

​Specifically, the latest One UI 8 firmware for the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition comes with a new version number, CYI9. The Android 16-based update significantly brings new and refined UI elements with more vibrant colors, improved widgets, and enhanced layouts.

​Other than that, the update further adds upgrades to the device’s overall security, productivity, and accessibility that eventually lead to a smoother, efficient, and optimized performance for the users.

​Additionally, the update is also packed with more advanced and improved security by integrating a suitable security patch that focuses on improving the device’s security and core functionality, while also protecting the device against potential threats to provide a more secure user experience.

​Well, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is limited to South Korea and China. While the company has started releasing the One UI 8 update for the device, thus, users can check out and download the latest version via Settings >> Software update >> Download and install.
