That’s it! Google is not dropping support for Android Auto’s GameSnacks collection

Last week, several Android Auto users reported that the GameSnacks collection goes missing from the app launcher, which seems to be occurring with the 15.2 beta version, but there is some good news, as a fresh report suggested that Android Auto’s GameSnacks collection is not going anywhere!

Basically, the GameSnacks collection is an HTML5-based game that is specially designed for car displays. Since Google has prepared Android Auto, users will be able to play games on their vehicle’s screen.

However, earlier reports described that the GameSnacks collection will no longer be available on Android Auto. Well, thankfully, this seems not to be the case, as according to Android Authority, the GameSnacks collection is not going anywhere from Android Auto and is only losing support for smartphones running Android 8.0 or 8.1.

Specifically, the team performed an APK teardown of Android Auto 15.5 beta build and noticeably found some changes that will perhaps be coming to Android Auto.

First up, Google seems to be ending GameSnacks’ support for the devices running Android 8.0 or 8.1. The next change appeared in the settings section. It looks like the space between each item is getting increased, and eventually, users will only see three items at once, while currently, the settings section displays four items.

Other than that, the dive into Android Auto 15.5 beta also suggested that Google is perhaps working on bringing a new media player UI. The app icon on the media player will now be able to change its color according to the accent of the song that’s currently playing, which sounds interesting! However, this functionality worked with Spotify, Google News app, and VLC player, but not for YouTube Music.

Well, according to the reports, it certainly looks like Google doesn’t need Android Auto’s GameSnacks collection for older Android OS; here Android 8.0 is the minimum requirement.
