Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 4 Series is receiving a new update

Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch global rollout for the Galaxy Watch 7 is already in the process; meanwhile, finally, the company is also rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy Watch 4 series, right after a long gap.

However, it’s been a while since Samsung has released any update for the Galaxy Watch 4 lineup, and now, the company is starting to deliver a minor update for the Wear OS-based wearables, which apparently integrates the August 2025 security patch.

Noticeably, the update is currently available in the US for the Verizon carrier-locked Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic. At the same time, the latest firmware for the former comes with the version number R865USQU1IYI1 (40mm) / R875USQU1IYI1 (44mm), while the latter carries version number R885USQU1IYI1 (42mm) / R895USQU1IYI1 (46mm), respectively.

Specifically, the update is just a minor security patch that, however, doesn’t bring any major features or changes. But it significantly adds further relevant enhancements and improvements that focus on providing certain performance optimizations alongside improving all the existing features in order to provide a smooth and sophisticated user experience.

Well, the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic is already eligible to support the latest Wear OS 6-based One UI 8 Watch update, however, users need to wait for quite some time, as Samsung is moving forward with the stable One UI 8 Watch rollout for the Galaxy Watch 7 models, at least for now, and is expected to expand the major update for even more eligible Galaxy watches over the coming months.
