After a long wait, Galaxy Watch 7 owners are finally receiving the Wear OS 6-based One UI 8 Watch stable update across the globe. It brings a host of features and changes; however, there is a major factor that is out from the latest update.
Well, the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic already debuted with One UI 8 Watch, out of the box; meanwhile, these next-gen watches significantly brought a new feature, Battery Protection, which triggers the watch to stop charging when the battery level reaches 90% and start charging again when it drops down to 85%. This eventually helps in improving battery health throughout its lifetime.
However, after gazing at several beta builds, Samsung has finally started processing the stable One UI 8 Watch update for the Galaxy Watch 7 owners, and thus, the update is now available for users in the global market.
But unfortunately, the new battery Protection feature seems to be applied for newer generation Galaxy Watches, such as Galaxy Watch 8 series alongside Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, and as a result, the latest version doesn’t bring the Battery Protection feature to the Galaxy Watch 7 models, according to the reports from SammyGuru.
At the same time, with the courtesy of a post shared by a Reddit user, which suggests that the feature is not available on the Watch Ultra 2024 model. Therefore, it looks like Samsung has put a limit on the Battery Protection feature, and thus, the older generation Galaxy Watches will not get the feature, at least for now.
Well, this could perhaps disappoint the Galaxy Watch community as they are bound to purchase newer generation Galaxy Watches to protect their watch’s battery. Nevertheless, it is perhaps possible that Samsung might change its mind in the future, but with that said, it remains to be seen!
