Despite Samsung’s dominance in the US, Apple could challenge in the foldable segment

Samsung is one of the leading brands in the foldable industry, but soon its dominance is about to shake in the US, as its rival, Apple, is setting up to launch a foldable iPhone to challenge its throne.

Back in July, Samsung launched its seventh-generation foldable phones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Fortunately, both of these devices have shaken the foldable rivals with an extremely thin design, a smarter camera, great specifications, and advanced AI features.

Meanwhile, a new report from Counterpoint Research revealed that foldable phone sales in the US are expected to grow by 68% in 2025, which is six times the growth rate of just 11% in 2024. Whereas Samsung is already dominating the US foldable market, while Motorola is gradually closing the gap with the new Razr lines.

On the rivalry side, Apple is also expected to launch its first foldable iPhone in 2026. According to the prediction of Counterprint, Samsung will retain its top position in the US in 2026. It’s highly anticipated that Apple will quickly overtake Motorola to take second place. If this happens, then the foldable industry will witness an unmatched conflict between the two tech giants.

Previously, it was reported that Samsung could be the major screen supplier for Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhones. It will be interesting to see what will happen next and whether Samsung will maintain its leading position in the foldable market, especially in the US against Apple.
