Samsung is one of the leading brands in the smartphone market, which is quite vigilant regarding preventing overheating problems that could cause phones to catch fire.
Earlier this year, Samsung launched its latest Galaxy S25 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event, which includes three models: Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. The company has designed all three of these models quite thin.
However, an incident has recently blown in the market that raises new safety concerns regarding the flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Plus, as it has reportedly overheated while the user was holding it and caught fire.
Samsung powered the Galaxy S25+ with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and integrated with larger vapor chamber for better heat management. It has a 4,900mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging.
According to the report, a Galaxy S25+ user has shared the petrified experience, and regarding the incident, he stated, “I was holding the S25+ in my hand and it started to overheat and make a loud noise, so I threw it on the floor and it started to smoke. Samsung Service Center said that the cause is unknown after investigation”.
Noticeably, the user informed that the incident happened while the phone was not charging, ruling out a charging-related malfunction. The exact reason behind the Galaxy S25 Plus’ overheating and catching fire, that Samsung’s Service Center was unable to figure out the exact cause after investigation. However, the company will refund the damage to the user.
