Samsung has expanded its microSD card lineup by silently debuting the latest P9 Express microSD card integrated with 800MB/s sequential read speeds.
The Korean tech firm has announced the P9 Express microSD card, which is claimed to transfer data much faster compared to standard UHS-I microSD cards, and the reason behind this is the use of PCIe and NVMe technology.
This newly launched microSD card is especially perfect for players who download large games or DLC packs that quickly fill console storage, and is also efficient for households where multiple people share a console.
Samsung makes the P9 Express microSD cards available in two variants based on storage, as mentioned below –
- 256GB and 512GB
This means that there’s no 1TB variant for this SD card, at least for now. When you pair the card with a compatible SD Express interface, it can reach sequential read speeds of up to 800MB/s, which is nearly four times faster compared to the standard UHS-I cards. It seems quite significant for content creators and video editors, who usually move or edit large files.
Both variants of the card have a dedicated price based on storage, which is as follows –
- 256GB variant costs £58.59
- 512GB variant costs £99.99
