Samsung has yet to officially announce exactly which processor it is considering to choose to power the next-generation Galaxy S26 series, as it hasn’t decided whether it will choose an in-house chip or the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
The Korean tech giant is actively setting up to launch the Galaxy S26 series sometime in Q1 2026. Last month, it was reported that Samsung would delay the Galaxy S26 launch up to March 2026; however, a recent report says that it will launch the series on February 25, 2026, at the Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco.
Several leaks and reports regarding the processor of the Galaxy S26 have already come into existence; for instance, the company could use the in-house Exynos 2600 chipset to power the base models of the lineup. Whereas the Ultra variant will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
Recently, Samsung, during the Q3 earnings call, confirmed that it will use the Exynos 2600 to power the Galaxy S26 models at least in the family. Meanwhile, now, a new report from Business Korea says that a Samsung representative said that “ the evaluation of the application processor (AP) is still underway ” and added “ the final configuration for next year’s flagship cannot be confirmed yet .”
However, the source hasn’t mentioned the name of a particular chipset, but the tech giant believes that the two options being considered are the Exynos 2600 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
The Samsung representative revealed that the company also emphasized that it has “a clear set of criteria for what it wants to bring to users through its premium products.” Samsung’s final decision regarding the Galaxy S26 series’ process remains unclear. It will be interesting to see what will happen next and whether it will use the dual process strategy or completely rely on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
