Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra to bring advanced facial recognition upgrade

Samsung has yet to release the Galaxy S26 series; meanwhile, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is now reported to feature the most advanced facial recognition upgrade ever in the Galaxy lineup.

Currently, Samsung is actively gearing up to launch the next-generation Galaxy S26 series in March 2026. If the company continues its flagship Galaxy S-series, then the Galaxy S27 series is supposed to be launched in 2027.

A leaker, @SPYGO19726, shared a post on X, revealing that Samsung is working on introducing a new technology, reportedly called “Polar ID v1.0,” for the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

According to the leaker, Samsung is considering introducing the Polar ID technology initially with the Galaxy S27 Ultra, as it has already begun testing this technology in software for the Galaxy S27 Ultra as part of its biometric security framework.

The Polar ID is expected to take a big step forward in biometric security, as it can go far beyond the traditional 2D scanning method currently used on Galaxy lines, which relies on the selfie camera to recognize faces. This technology is a polarized light authentication system integrated with the ISOCELL Vizion front sensor and a dedicated security core known as BIO-Fusion Core.

Reportedly, the Polar ID would use polarized light patterns to read your unique skin texture, and the company is expecting to offer an unlock speed of around 180 milliseconds. However, it’s quite early to discuss Galaxy S27 Ultra’s features; it remains to be seen whether this leaked report will come true.
