Google to drop sideloading restrictions for unverified apps on Android

In the recent past, Google has announced some major changes that were already taken into effect, including Sideloading restrictions, in particular.

Now, it appears that, starting next year, the Android ecosystem is being prepared to allow sideloading apps from unverified developers.

Since Google has imposed certain restrictions on sideloading apps from unauthorized or unverified developers, and now, with the courtesy of the blog post, Google announced that it is building a new Advanced flow that will certainly permit users to install apps even from unverified developers alongside verified ones.

Basically, through this flow, Google is working on making the entire Android ecosystem even more safe and sounder. The users will be assured that they are not tricked into bypassing certain safety checks when under pressure from a scammer.

With that said, the post says, “we are building a new advanced flow that allows experienced users to accept the risks of installing software that isn’t verified”.

At the same time, Google has further stated that the flow consists of a few clear warnings so that users already know about the risk involved in sideloading unverified apps.

Well, Google is also starting to invite developers to early access for the most important process of developer verification in Android Developer Console, while this program will be continued until the verifications are in process for all the developers as of March 2026.
