Android Auto 15.7 beta hints at Google working on implementing new options for widgets

Google is so quick and consistent when it comes to delivering new features or changes for its best driving companion, Android Auto, via frequent updates. Meanwhile, the company is already rolling out the latest update, which is currently available in the beta channel.

​After a noticeable gap, Google has begun releasing a new update, which takes the Android Auto service to a new version, Android Auto 15.7 beta, but guess what! It appears that Google is working on bringing widget support to its driving service, uncovered by Android Authority.

​The source dived deeper into the latest version of Android Auto, which is said to be 15.7 beta, and noticed that Android Auto has some significant changes this time. It was uncovered that Google seems to be developing home screen widgets alongside new UI controls. And now, the latest beta apparently suggests that users will get to see a few additional widget placement options than before.

​At the same time, there is a new height slider as well for the home screen widgets, which also has a screenshot button, but as usual, it’s not working at the moment.

​A new yet slightly changed UI has also been spotted on the latest beta version of Android Auto. The entire UI looks very neat and impressive, where the apps are certainly placed in the middle, buttons on the right side, and the clock is positioned at the left of the screen.

​Aside from that, Google also appears to be implementing an alternative layout for Android Auto’s bottom navigation bar, where all the UI elements are arranged in the center. Well, this change remains in the beta channel; nevertheless, it’s better to sit and wait, whether Google wishes to iterate on the exact changes in the stable release.
