Samsung Display is now ordered to supply about 3 million OLED panels for the iPad mini 2026, which will be efficient for the firm to strengthen its revenue.
Apple is looking forward to launching the iPad mini sometime in 2026, which is now anticipated to be the first to use OLED screens. A new report from ETNews revealed that Samsung Display will be the sole supplier for the upcoming iPad mini lineup.
According to the report, Samsung Display will start mass production of 8.4-inch OLED panels from around July next year. These panels are based on a single-layer light-emitting structure combined with LTPS TFT, aiming to optimize production costs while still ensuring display quality.
It’s expected that Samsung will produce about three million panels per year, and if progress goes as planned, the iPad mini using OLED may appear in the third or fourth quarter. Previously, Apple used only LCD screens for the iPad mini; now it is looking forward to equipping this compact device with OLED for the first time, aiming to expand the high-end screen technology to a more accessible product group, rather than just limiting it to the iPad Pro.
Apart from this, the report also revealed that the iPad Air is expected to adopt OLED from 2028. The iPad Pro using OLED has attracted a lot of attention; however, due to the high price, the purchasing power is lower than expected, while the iPad mini was seen as an opportunity to accelerate the popularization of OLED in the tablet market.
