Samsung Galaxy users, get ready to experience a major hotspot upgrade that may deliver the best compatibility and faster performance to enhance your mobile data sharing experience.
Samsung’s most recent flagship devices, including the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 7, are compatible with four frequency band options, as mentioned below –
- 2.4GHz, 2.4GHz & 5GHz, 5GHz Preferred, and 6GHz Preferred.
This means that these smartphone users can choose any one option among the above-mentioned frequency bands to share mobile data over Wi-Fi. The 2.4GHz is compatible with most devices, but it is one of the slowest. The 2.4GHz & 5GHz deliver a balance between compatibility and performance.
The 5GHz Preferred is performance-oriented; however, it is not compatible with old devices. The 6GHz Preferred is one of the faster bands, but there are only limited devices that are compatible with it, at least for now.
It is expected that there could be another band option, 2.4GHz and 6GHz, so that older and new devices can connect with it. On the other side, stock Android currently offers two frequency band options for sharing mobile data over Wi-Fi: 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
Meanwhile, one of our reliable colleagues, Android Authority, revealed that the latest version of Android in the Canary channel offers three, with the third being 2.4GHz and 6GHz. The older device can efficiently connect to the 2.4GHz frequency, while the newer ones can connect to the 6GHz frequency for the fastest performance.
Coming to Samsung, all the features that stock Android offers with One UI. By this prospect, it’s expected that the 2.4GHz and 6GHz options could come to Galaxy phones in the near future.
